I knew Forbidden Kingdom would be a hit. I was also pretty sure it would reach number one in the box offices as well. Jet Li and Jackie Chan appearing for the first time in a pg-13 adventure. Movie gold. Easy money if you ask me.

I think forbidden kingdom made around 21 million over the weekend. Not bad for only two days. I am embarrassed to say I didn't get to see Jet Li and Jackie Chan's first movie yet but I will any day now.

From the reviews that I read it sounds like a fun movie. Jet Li and Jackie Chan doing their thing in Forbidden Kingdom. I even heard the American kid in Forbidden Kingdom did a decent job as well. Good for him. I hope he doesn't think he is the reason the movie is a success though. I am sure the reason people went out to see Forbidden Kingdom is because of Jet Li and Jackie Chan.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Movie Forbidden Kingdom Opens Today In The States!

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Movie Forbidden Kingdom Opens Today In The States!

Well the wait is finally over. Jet Li and Jackie Chan first movie open in the US today. I have read some reviews so far and they seem to be positive. I still am a little sceptical though. The thought of Jet Li and Jackie Chan taking a back seat to some little teenage brat bothers me as a Kung Fu movie fan.

I have said before on this blog I am dissapoint that Jet Li and Jackie Chan made us wait so long for a movie together and when it finally happens they are co stars. There is a scene in this movie where Jet Li is out of the temple and he stumbles apon a lady Shepard with her flock and dog. Jet Li taunts her a little bit and she sends her dog after Jet.

The dog follows Jet Li all the way back to the temple and into his room. To hide the dog from his masters Jet Li put the dog under blanket and sat on it. The dog suffocates and dies. Jet Li decides to bury the dog but shortly after realizes the dog feel no more pain now that its dead and he decides to exhume it and cook it over an open fire.Pretty cool huh. Actually not really I am a dog lover but the movie is a period piece and has some sick fight scenes.

I also recall a scene in Once Upon A Time where much to his foreign educated cousins dismay where he ate dog meat

As I right this article I am try to think if Jackie Chan ever did or mention eating a dog in any of his movies. Jackie Chan did make a bunch of period Kung Fu films in his day but I can't recall the fun loving Jackie Chan ever actually eating a dog. I will have to go through my Jackie Chan collection and see.

Even in the dog loving American Market Jet Li and Jackie Chan are going to sell a lot tickets tomorrow in their first film together Forbidden Kingdom

Jet Li and Jackie Chan VS Bruce Lee

Jet Li and Jackie Chan VS Bruce Lee

It's pretty safe to say that Jackie Chan and Jet Li are the most prolific martial arts actors of their generation. How does Jet Li and Jackie Chan compare to the late great Bruce Lee though?

Bruce Lee really only completed 4 movies(I do not count Game of Death as a completed project). Jet Li and Jackie Chan have completed a lot more than that in their careers. So how come you can't go to mall and find Jet Li and/or Jackie Chan t-shirts everywhere? Bruce Lee merchandise is still very popular 34 years after his death.
Do you have to die young to become that popular? Ask Bob Marley.

Bruce Lee did have a charisma about him that separated him from his peers. Jet Li and Jackie Chan do too but Bruce was fist.

Maybe if Jet Li passed away after Tai Chi master of if Jackie Chan passed away after Police Story they would have been more popular too.

Jet Li Could Have Beat Jackie Chan in The American Market..Only If

Jet Li Could Have Beat Jackie Chan in The World Wide Market..Only If

I am a fan of both Jet Li and Jackie Chan. I simply like to have these discussions for fun. If you are a big Asian movie fan you probably already know most of the Jet Li vs Jackie Chan stuff that I post but I know there are alot of people out there that do not.

One huge movie that put Asian film on the map for American movie fans was Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. This is a Wuxia film from 2000 that caught the eye of the academy. It stars the Chinese action star Chow Yun Fat. Now Chow Yun Fat is a fantastic actor who made his names in John Woo films like the Killer and Hard Boiled. He also had some crossover success with Replacement Killers.

Ang Lee originally wanted Jet Li to play the role of the legendary swordsman but he declined it. Supposedly it was because Jet Li's wife was pregnant at the time and he promised his wife he would stay home with her. What a nice guy.

For those that have seen the film you can only imagine how much the film would have been different. I think Jet Li excels with weapons even more so than hand to hand fights. I think he would have been perfect for the role and would have made Jet Li even more popular to American audiences. Jackie Chan probably would not have been considered for this role. Jackie Chans is more of a comedic action star and this role wouldn't have suited him.

Another role that Jet declined was Seraph in The Matrix films. The role went to Colin Chou and I think he did a great job with it but he is no Jet Li. Jackie Chan probably wouldn't have fit well in the role either.

I think if Jet Li took those roles he would have had the upper hand on the who do you think is better argument: Jet Li or Jackie Chan

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Forbidden King Salaries?

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Forbidden King Salaries?

So who do you think is getting more money for Forbidden Kingdom Jet Li or Jackie Chan?
This is almost as an intriguing question as who would win in a fight. Jet Li recently made 13 million dollars for his film Warlords. That was the highest salary ever paid to an actor for a Chinese language film.

Forbidden Kingdom on the other hand is a English language film. English language films gross more money worldwide. Jackie Chan and Jet Li are both internationally known actors and I think they should get paid the same amount of yen for a film like Forbidden Kingdom. They both are playing second fiddle to the hero white kid in this film(sort of).

I could see Jackie Chan demanding a little more money than Jet Li. Maybe rightfully so. Jackie Chan has been around longer than Jet Li. He also crossed over before him. Jet Li on the other hand is a little younger and his past current films Danny The Dog and Unleashed were both critical successes and grossed some nice money. Jackie's Rush Hour 3 made good money but was trashed by every critic out there.

So who do you think is making going to make more money on Forbidden Kingdom? Jet Li or Jackie Chan?

Is Jackie Chan the fun loving guy we all think he is?

Is Jackie Chan the fun loving guy we all think he is? What took so long for Jackie Chan and Jet Li to make a movie together?

All we can do is really guess. I have some theories though.

Jackie Chan seems like a very nice guy doesn't he? Always smiling, always the HERO in his films. He is the epitome of likeable no? I seen my fair share of Jackie Chan films and unlike Jet Li who I do not recall him ever playing the 'bad buy'. Also unlike Jet Li I don't recall Jackie Chan ever dying in his films(at least in a lead role). How can you kill him though. He's just so frigging NICE. Easy going unless you mess with him. Is that really how Jackie Chan is in real life? I think not.

One thing that Jackie Chan can say and Jet Li can't is he holds a Guinness Book world record. No, it not for the most amicable action star ever. No it not for the most time injured by a action star. Jackie Chan holds the Guinness Book of World's record for the most takes in a single film. A whopping 2900+ takes in scene for his film Dragon Lord. Jackie Chan directed this film.

I think you need a lot of 'you know what' to demand that from you film crew. This tells me that not only is Jackie Chan is perfectionist BUT he also must have a little bit of tyrant in him. That's not necessarily a bad thing especially in the film industry but I think it shows some of Jackie's true colors.

What does this have to do with Jet Li though? Well, obviously Jackie Chan has a competitive nature about him. Why would he work with Jet Li? Whould'nt someone who took over 2900 takes, a perfectionist rather beat his nemesis rather than work with him. I am sure that Jackie has had plenty of opportunities to work with Jet in the past. Maybe Jackie figured, hey, IM 54 I have done everything, I proved that I am better than that little Wire Fu star Jet Li. Maybe now is the time to give the fans what they want and get a big pay day too!

We will see how it turns out. Im curious to see if Jackie will have more of a role in the Forbidden Kingdom. Also curious to see if his character dies at the end. 11 more days and we all will know

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Kung Fu Films Or Old School Kung Fu Films

I know both Jet Li and Jackie Chan both started in the'old school' era of Kung Fu Cinema but they really made their bones in the 'new school era'.Now I am a old school Kung Fu fan and I do prefer that style of film compared to the 'wire fu' era of films these days. Not these films are any less entertaining its more of personal preference.

If you look at the old school fight scenes now verses a modern fight scene you will see a lot of differences. Take a look at Jet Li's Shaolin Temple, his first film. This is where Jet really showed his speed. When he acted out his training scene I've never seen Jet Li move that fast before. He controlled his weapons with speed and accuracy never before seen on film. Even faster than the great Bruce Lee with his nun chucks. As time went on and wires were brought into the fight choreography the fights changed. CGI also came into play. For me personally I rather just enjoy a raw wire free fight. It is evolution though.

Jackie Chan also displayed awesome wire free old school Kung Fu in his older films. Take the Young Master. Jackie Chan's final scene in that film was almost a half an hour of pure Kung Fu action. His choreographed it all himself. Pretty wicked stuff.

Maybe the old school style Kung Fu film will make a comeback one day and Jet Li and Jackie Chan can be apart of the renisonce.

Happy Birthday Jackie Chan!

Happy Birthday JACKIE CHAN!!!!! 54 Years Young

Jet Li and Jackie Chan to make a second film?

I am really beginning to think that Jet Li and Jackie Chan are just looking for big pay days at this point in their career. After many years of the of being the number 1 and 2 in their genre(who is 1 one and who is 2 is up for debate) they are finally making a long awaited film together. Not only that they are rumors a SECOND Jet Li and Jackie Chan film now.

Too me it just seems they are cashing in and almost 'selling out'. Jackie Chan is 53 and Jet Li is 44. How much longer can Jackie Chan jump off of bridges? How much longer can Jet Li maintain his Wushu skills on screen? I am sure these are questions they have thought about. So why not go out with a bang right? A financial bang that is.

There is no doubt in my mind that Jet and Jackie have a hit on their hands with the Forbidden Kingdom. This film is going to be a cash cow. I wonder if the two of them had this planned out from the beginning. A plan to make the fans wait years for a Jet Li and Jackie Chan collaboration.
To wait for a really big pay day. They both are successful and wealthy already. Jackie Chan has made a ton of money with his Rush Hour films. Jet Li has excelled as a action favorite both in his homeland and in America. Is Forbidden Kingdom going to surpass everything else they did fanatically though? I think so. I think they know it too.

Now the rumors are coming out about a second Jet Li and Jackie Chan film. I hope the next one will be more of a authentic Kung Fu film. Or maybe at least a Chinese language film some of the more casual fans and really see what a real Chinese action film is like

Jackie Chan's 10 Best Stunts

Now Jackie Chan has many tools. I think I will still stand behind that. It also might be his best Kung Fu film as well. But is it really his best movie role?

I say no. His best role and movie in my opinion is in 2002 Hero. Hero in fact is not a Kung Fu film but rather a Wuxia film. Wuxia literally means martial-chivalric fiction and its much different than a classic Kung Fu film. Wuxia films usually revolve around a heroic swordsman.

Jet Li plays a nameless swordsman in this film who is plotting to assisinate the evil Chinese emperor. There are many twists and turns in this film. The film is not only viewed from Jet Li's perspective but also through the eyes of others characters in the film. The movie is beautifully shot, the music is great and Jet Li sword fights are very good too. Best fight in the film is when Jet Li fights his Kung Fu star rival Donnie Yen in the chess room.

Jackie Chans Greatest Role

Jackie and Jet both have had outstanding careers in film without a doubt. Sometimes though the sheer brilliance just shines through. Drunken Master in my opinion is Jackie Chan's best film. This is a very early film in Jackies career. He play a Young Wong Fe Hung to perfection. Always getting into trouble. His father sends him off to his uncle because he cant control. His uncle Sam Seed teaches him Drunken Boxing and Jackie uses it to defeat the villan at the end. The villain is played by Hwang Jang Lee aka the boot master. The climax of the film is one of the best ever filmed. Here is what it looks like

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Forbidden Kingdom Salaries?

Who would Win In A fight : Jet Li Or Jackie Chan

Who would Win In A fight : Jet Li Or Jackie Chan

The age old question. I really don't like questions like this. You never hear anyone ask who would win a fight Bruce Willis or Harrison Ford. But for martial arts stars there is a different train of thought.

You see these virtually unbeatable heroes on the screen kicking everyone ass usually with no effort so you automatically pit the two of them against each other in your mind.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan aren't professional fighters folks. They both know some Kung Fu but I would be surprised if Jet Li or Jackie Chan have gotten into a real fight in the past 15 years(off screen).

It would probably be a decent fight if they both were in their prime I suppose. Jet Li is quicker and Jackie Chan is more agile. If it came down to it I would probably put my money on Jackie Chan over Jet Li just because of size. Maybe in their new movie Forbidden Kingdom we can get a preview of what a real life Jet and Jackie fight would look like

One Of My Favorite Jet Li Fights

This is one of my favorite Jet Li fights. Jet Li fights Japanese martial arts star Shogi Kurata. This clip is from Jet Li movie Fists of Legend starring Jet Li , Billy Chow and Shogi Kurata. I am a little upset about though. Instead of making a traditional kung fu movie Jet Li and Jackie Chan are maiking a movie about an American boy traveling to China for some martial arts adventure.

Jet Li and Jackie Chan careers began out a lot different from each other. Jet Li was taught Wushu from a young age. Jet Li champion in Wushu. Jackie Chan mean while learned his skills the Chinese Opera School.

Their film careers also began different. Jackie Chan was first a stuntman appearing in small roles in movies. Jackie Chan also was a action choreographer. Jet Li meanwhie first job was a staring role. Jet Li first film was Shaolin Temple and was a big hit in Mainland China and the movie spawned two other Shaolin Temple movies

Jackie Chan didn’t get popular at first. His first big film was Snake in Eagles shadow. A movie directed by Yuen Woo Ping. The staring role was first created for the late Fu Sheng but he was couldnt take the role due to an leg injury he sustained. After this movie Drunken Master came out and this is where the Jackie Chan legend begins.

Drunken Master is a movie about the Wong Fei Hung who is a legendary folk hero in china. Wong Fei Hung is played by Jackie Chan to perfection in the movie. His brilliant blend comedy and Kunf Fi skills made him a star.

Eventually Jackie Chan crossed over to Hollywood. American filme fans was amazed at his stunts and action comedies and even now Jackie Chan is in his 50’s is still astonishing fans

Jet Li first crossed over to Hollywood in a role in the film Lethal Weapon 4. Jet Li was casted as a villain in this movie. In Chinese films Jet Li was usually a good guy but Jet Li was very menacing in this movie. The final fight between Jet Li, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover was very good. Fight scenes in China are a lot more involved than fight scenes in American movies. After that Jet Li made more action films in Hollywood like The One and Kiss Of The Dragon.

I hope Jet Li and Jackie Chan first film together will be good. I just wish it were a more authentic film.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog.
